Overnight Accommodations

Details on accommodations will be provided in the written invitations to this excursion, to be mailed to travelers prior to the scheduled departure.  To those travelers coming from places far and wide, there is no need to contact Copper Mountain Lodge - your reservations are secure.  Nevertheless, as one would expect for an expedition of this magnitude and consequence, it will be necessary for travelers to plan well in advance to secure their place among the included, and prompt RSVPs are both encouraged and required.

Flying the Friendly Skies

The most convenient airport for the journey is the Birmingham International Airport.  If willing to make a longer drive, travelers can consider the Atlanta or Nashville airports.  The following discounts were hotly negotiated with major carriers:

Travelers who choose Southwest Airlines as their means of conveyance are eligible to receive up to 10% off most fares for travel to and from Birmingham any time between October 10 and October 24, 2003.  The ladies and gentlemen of Southwest's Group and Meetings Reservations team will be pleased to make appropriate arrangements - call (800) 433-5368 and reference ID Code J0238.  Reservations may be made as late as one hour prior to departure.

Travelers who opt for Continental Airlines can choose between special zone fares or discounts of up to 10% on flights to Birmingham, with an additional 5% for flights booked more than 60 days prior to the date of travel.  Travel must be between October 12 and October 24, 2003, and travelers must mention Agreement Code VWT37R and Z Code ZBGC to the reservation professionals at Continental MeetingWorks at (800) 468-7022.

Ground Transportation

Travelers should note that Copper Mountain Lodge at Twin Pines is located thirty to forty-five minutes from the Birmingham International Airport and is not easily accessible by taxicab.  Travelers should plan to rent a car or hitch a ride with their comrades to ensure they can both make their way to Twin Pines and make their escape.  Car rental discounts on Hertz and Avis are available through the Continental Airlines reservations department.
